Recently I became aware that schools no longer taught cursive handwriting? Wait, what? It took me a minute, so kids learn how to write their letters, but never learn cursive writing. Think folks, every signature you have made since you were say 16…..heck 12. I do understand we are in the electronic age and mortgages can be secured via an electronic signature. But how fun was it to sign and initial all those pages on your first home. Or the butterflies when you signed your name to a marriage license or your child’s birth certificate (that little minion was yours now). I am still that person that writes her notes during meetings. I am that person that gets annoyed by the clicking of fingernails on a keyboard and when you get the response through a phone, “I’m just taking notes”. I’m annoyed by my own fingernails clicking off the pc keys right now. I had a manager once who attempted to “break” me of my paper/pen habit of note taking during meetings, because that is what his boss wanted to see, he thought it would save on the company’s paper expense problem and be more efficient. If you take written notes, you know, there are lines to continue your thought, side notes along the page and of course doodles when the meeting is boring. My electronic note taking via typing was short lived, I invested in a tablet pen and just wrote my notes to the tablet via this great invention! I annoyed my boss by out thinking him and keep my doodles….it was a Win Win! But I digress, has any school really measured the impact of not teaching generations of children cursive handwriting. Forget the fact that every kid has created their own signature for autographs or seeing how your boyfriends last name looks with yours when your 12 years old. Your signature is as unique as you are, it may not define who you are morally, but it does define you as an individual. Maybe that’s the point that needs explored, are there just going to be groups of people that type an X in the signature line and then they are asked to use their unique identifier of social security # and zip code?

I am a perfectionist, I have written, re-written, my thoughts because I was unsure if others could “get” what I was saying then, I just said “fuck it”.
